Today is the 26th anniversary of the Challenger Disaster.

73 seconds after launching on its 10th voyage, the space shuttle Challenger suffered a massive mechanical failure, causing the destruction of the shuttle and the deaths of the crew on board.

Pictured below are the crew members who were lost in the disaster on January 28th, 1986. In the back row from left to right: Ellison S. Onizuka, Sharon Christa McAuliffe, Greg Jarvis, and Judy Resnik. In the front row from left to right: Michael J. Smith, Dick Scobee, and Ron McNair.
